Details are a bit hazy on this one, but it looks like Hitachi is readying a new “small sized stereoscopic vision display technology.” Measuring in at 7.9- x 7.9- x 3.9-inches and weighing 2.2-pounds, the mysterious device apparently utilizes an array of mirrors and projects imagery in a manner than gives off a three-dimensional illusion. Reportedly, the new “synthetic image” device is similar in design to its larger “Transpost,” and Hitachi hopes to implement the technology in locales such as schools, exhibitions, museums, etc. Nevertheless, the outfit is slated to show off the unit at SIGGRAPH 2007, so if anyone happens to drop in, do let us know how impressive / unflattering it really is in person.

MediaWhiz, a holding company for a number of advertising networks, may be shopping itself to private equity firms. We are hearing that they are looking for $400- $450 million, which is 2.5 - 3 times estimated 2007 revenues.

MediaWhiz owns a number of ad networks, including two that are long time sponsors of this site (Text Link Ads and Auction Ads). Both were recently acquired by MediaWhiz.

I have an email in to the company for comment.

Ad networks are the hot commodity this year, with AOL, Yahoo, Google and Microsoft all making big acquisitions. The size of those deals combined is nearly $10 billion.

Once you start using their services it gets easier and easier to migrate more of your life to them. But there’s a slight problem. Only catch is there’s a Ford attached to it. But with text messaging and the ability to select songs and playlists by voice recognition, the Microsoft/Ford Sync system is still the best in-car MP3 player/cell phone integration system on the market and now here’s the pricing information. It’s actually cheaper than an iPhone at just $395!

The seesaw match between DirecTV and Time Warner (parent company of AOL, which owns Engadget) over those blasted “superior HD” spots has reached another milestone, as a US appeals court has “upheld a lower court’s decision that prohibits the satellite television operator from airing advertisements that claim superior service in markets where Time Warner Cable operates.” Notably, the Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit did, however, “set aside part of the lower court’s order, saying the way it had been worded could be construed to prohibit the unfavorable comparison of even Time Warner Cable’s analog programming.” Ah well, it’s not like those ads were exceedingly enthralling to begin with, right?
