It’s hard to say what kind of individual seeks out lighting instruments that even look like eyes, let alone lighting instruments with cloned details of their own eyes, but just in case you know one such person, here’s the perfect FYI for ‘em. Paris-based 5.5 designers are offering a service that enables you to send in images of your eyes (along with a very large sum of money, we presume) in order for the craftspeople to construct eyeball lamps with hints of you splashed all over. Sure gives Rockwell’s one and only jam a whole new meaning, yeah?

Remember the first time you completed a full race on Super Mario Kart (frustrating finish and all)? If you’ve somehow let less important things push those blissful memories aside, take a glance at ryo007’s beautifully assembled papercraft set and see if doesn’t start to come back. This palm-sized kit features a detailed SNES console, a couple of controllers and a hollow version of Super Mario All-Stars. Best of all, the creator has hosted a template in order for you, closet SNES lover, to create your own. Finding where you put those scissors, however, may still be a challenge.

For as many patently awful watch designs as we see, this here device has given us a newfound appreciation for timepieces. Yes, the Ilya Yakovlev-designed Real Crystal LED Watch is merely a concept at the moment, but creating such a device with crystals and LEDs is entirely plausible. If ripped into the realm of reality (pretty please?), wearers would be allowed to “increase the luminosity and change colors to suit [their] mood.” We’re just going to hope the question isn’t if we’ll see this one day, but when.

digg_url = ‘http://digg.com/security/Malwarez_project_grows_virtual_3D_organism_from_vicious_code’; Ever had an urge to really get a visual on what masterfully written predatory code would look like if allowed to grow into a 3D organism? Okay, so maybe that hasn’t been on the forefront of your mind recently, but there’s no denying that Alex Dragulescu’s Malwarez project is quite the source of eye candy. According to its maker, the aforementioned initiative is a “series of visualization of worms, viruses, trojans and spyware code,” and their “frequency, density and grouping are mapped to the inputs of an algorithm that grows a virtual 3D entity.” Who knew viruses could look so dreamy?

Artist France Cadet has created what was clearly meant to be a thought-provoking treatise on animal rights, the changing relationships of humans and animals, our ethical concerns on hunting, and an ever-morphing perception of what it means to be human… but it also comes off as looking really, really cool. Using the better half of the Aibo-wannabe I-Cybie robo-dog, Cadet reprograms the half-bots — called “Hunting Trophies” — to detect movement and react angrily when a viewer approaches. There are 11 different species in the collection, including a robot impala, lion, zebra, and warthog. Guess what? Despite those lofty philosophical goals, each one is more adorable than the next. Want.

Make no mistake, our hearts were fluttering when we finally witnessed WowWee’s FlyTech Dragonfly buzzing about, but there’s just something about this creature that really wins us over. Designed and constructed by James G. Watt, this robotic insect reportedly includes a number of solar cells which provide enough power in sunlight to make the critter’s wings flap. Granted, we aren’t told whether or not it’s mighty enough to deliver loves notes in math class, but we’re digging the concept, regardless.

Oh sure, there’s a multitude of head-mounted cameras out there for devout lifebloggers to snap up and wear, but we’re guessing the world looks a bit different when you’re scaring everyone off while waltzing down the street. Granted, the Momenta necklace isn’t a whole lot more attractive, but at least it’s a touch less noticeable. This concept would reportedly capture anything and everything that happened in front of the wearer, and when it detects a sudden jump in heart rate, it’ll log everything that happened five minutes prior and continue rolling until you tell it to halt. Kind of freaky, sure, but capturing the faces of folks who see you wearing this thing for the first time would undoubtedly be worth the price of admission.
