Our money is on the one with more G’s, but that’s just us. The folks at iLounge managed to nab a comparison shot of the original iPhone next to its 3G successor, and while the differences aren’t anything you couldn’t have guessed, it’s still nice to see the two in the flesh — at least we think they’re in the flesh, this could be just a shot of the iPhone 3G’s rear case, which has been floating around iLounge of late.

The silent, yet eerily palpable rivalry betwixt LG and Apple continues, secretly, growing subtlety with every new phone release (as you can see in the Windows Mobile-based KS20). Or maybe these two companies just love this design — certainly Nokia is fond of it. It’s hard to say really, but what isn’t hard to say is that these phones do look alike, and there’s no way around it. Please forgive the German showgirl for the upside down iPhone handling — they haven’t had the fortune of holding them here. Considering that Apple has been known to release products without all the features, um, enabled out of the box, it seemed fair to question the (now previous) AirPort Extreme’s inability to handle gigabit speeds. Apparently unable to shun curiosity, the investigatory folks over at ComputerWiz decided to break open both the gigabit and non-gigabit editions of the AirPort Extreme, and unfortunately for those hoping that their older iteration could be upgraded with a simple firmware patch, that doesn’t look to be the case. After closer inspection, the non-gigabit model packed a Broadcom BCM5325 chip, which only contains “five full-duplex 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX Fast Ethernet transceivers,” while the newest AE possesses a Broadcom BCM5395, which of course understands gigabit requirements just fine. Ah well, at least you can stop wishin’, eh?
